My Brother's Birthday

It was my brother's 27th birthday on Wednesday. This blog is dedicated to him.

Since I’ve been living abroad for the past three years, I've missed celebrating my family's birthdays. But what's more important is the love we have for each other and I'm grateful for technology. We can still have face time family time at least three times a month!

When growing up, my brother was always the naughty goofy one, the one that people loved to hang out with. He has a natural leadership vibe. People looked up to him and wanted to follow him. Since we were young, it was always the two of us. We are only one year and three days apart. We grew up as friends and siblings! There were many times I got angry with my brother. I don't remember what exactly I was mad about, but I remember wanting to punch him or give him the silent treatment. Yet, neither of those two things happened because at the end of the day, I still love him very much.

Growing up with my brother wasn't easy. We had similar gifts but very different personalities. And my brother was better than me in most everything. He is outgoing and an extrovert, while I'm shy and an introvert. We were both gifted in music and sports. I relied on my brother when we were together at church or youth group. I think I put myself under my brother's wings and lived in his shadows. We were only one grade apart, so we basically went to the same school. People knew me as being Isaiah's sister. I felt proud of that. I liked being the sister of the famous and handsome "Isaiah." But I thank God that by His grace, I was able to be independent and grow into what He had created me to be, and in the identity that He created me to be. I prayed for my brother a lot because I really love him. I think he loves me, too. He just didn't show it that often or he just showed it in a different way.

My brother didn’t take care of me until university when there was one year when we took accounting together. We were in different classes but the same year. He would take me on his motorcycle and we would go together to take our exams because it would be on the same day, and at the same place. And then we would go to church together because it was always on a Sunday. And we would get boba tea. When my brother matured, he began to take care of me more as a big brother.

I really thank God for my brother and I wouldn't have it any other way. He is the best! Sometimes he goes overboard with his jokes but I know the worse the jokes, the more he loves me. Happy birthday to my dearest brother! I will always love you and be praying for you!!!
