What was Grandma Regina to me?

 What was Grandma Regina to me?

    Growing up with the chance to visit my grandparents twice a year was a huge blessing. My favorite thing was the plane rides and seeing how many movies I can watch. One other favorite thing was when my grandparents would give us red envelopes or when they would buy us new shoes!

    My favorite memories of Grandma would be going on cruises and eating at different restaurants. At home, we would watch Little House on the Prairie for 4 hours a day, while munching on the different nuts and snacks they had. My brother and I would take turns to walk with grandma and grandpa to make sure they didn't fall or anything. It was a nice way to spend the summer with quality time with Grandma and Grandpa. Every night at 8pm or 9pm, it was time for the Chinese news and Grandpa would write things down. But it was in Mandarin! Grandma would be heating up dinner that Aunty Annie had dropped off or walking around as Grandpa would try and get whatever the Chinese news was talking about. Grandpa George was Japanese American so he only knew English and a little bit of Japanese. My grandma barely rested. I don't remember her really sitting down to watch tv but she would have it on. As I recall, Grandma was in charge most of the time.

    What else can I say about Grandma Regina? 3 words come to mind. First, energetic. Like I said, she never seemed to rest. She lived her life to the fullest. I don't know if I would be that healthy and energetic at her age. She was well over 80 as I remembered. She would go on walks at least 3 times a day. She also made sure she and grandpa ate healthy food. Second, curious. When we went out to eat, she would always want to try different things. She would want to have a bite of everything. She was losing her sight as well as her hearing but it didn't stop her from being adventurous and stepping out of her comfort zone. Third, disciplined. She would always encourage me and my brother to get into the best schools in Taiwan. She would set an example using her life. As they got older, they couldn't go to church anymore but they would always watch Joyce Meyer. Because of her life and everything she went through, she was a strong minded, smart, wise, experienced, loving, caring, direct, capable, sacrificial and beautiful woman who surrendered her life to Christ. Everything that my mom and uncles and aunt have right now is from Grandma Regina's hard work. I am glad she is home where there is no more pain, tears and suffering. But she will be missed...

"Even to your old age I am HE, and to gray hairs I will carry you.

I have made, and I will bear;

I will carry and will save.

Isaiah 46:4
